Chatterbox for grandparents

How to sign in

1. Ask your family for the family login and the picture password. The password is 4 pictures – each picture stands for a digit, so there are no letters to type.
2. Open Chatterbox on your phone, tablet or laptop and choose the family sign-in.
3. Enter the login and tap the 4 pictures in order.
4. On the Who’s playing? screen, tap yourself.

Tip: add Chatterbox to your home screen so you can open it like any other app.

What you’ll see

Grandparents get their own screen, made for you rather than for the children:

• what each grandchild did this week;
• a way to send them praise;
• chess;
• the grandchildren’s games, so you can try them yourself.

Playing together

Chess is a lovely way to spend time together: you can play chess with your grandchildren right inside the app. When they want to practise on their own, there are 10 levels against the computer, with a coach and hints.

Sitting with a younger grandchild? Ask them to show you their Speech or Reading lesson. The friendly animal reads every task aloud, so you don’t need to know the exercises – just listen and cheer.

Brothers and sisters can also compete in the family league and battles, or keep a team streak going together – a good thing to ask about next time you talk.

A word on praise

Praise the effort, not only the result: “You practised every day this week!” means a lot. If a grandchild is working on a tricky sound, there’s no need to correct them – simply say the word clearly yourself when you reply. Our guides to the R sound and learning to read explain more.
